Since 2013, we have identified and participated in various education programs that empower the youth.
Who We Are
The Grind Foundation trust was registered in 2013 under the registration number IT3432/2013. The organisation was set up by a group of individuals in financial services who heeded the call to get involved in the nurturing of our communities. This was informed by the shortage of black talent in the financial services sector, especially those from a previously disadvantaged background. The group identified lack of good education and resources in township schools, and lack of mentorship as some of the issues impacting communities. To close this gap, the group was driven to organise themselves, formalise their activities and register The Grind Foundation.
Over the years the Grind Foundation, through its member interactions, has grown to not only recruit membership from financial services, but also has professionals from different sectors. The Foundation had done well in identifying and executing on projects, it was stable but needed a new injection of energy and direction. The Foundation needed to grow and this could not happen without the involvement of women. Therefore in 2018, after consultation with the members, the Trustees co-opted women into the organisation to accelerate the integration of women to the Foundation.
The aims and objectives of the Trust are:
1) Fund, support and establish educational and mentorship programs aimed at students at primary and secondary schools, tertiary education institutions and adult basic education and training programs in a non-profit manner; and
2) Fund, support and co-ordinate infrastructure improvement programs at primary and secondary schools, tertiary education institutions and adult basic education and training programs in a non-profit manner.
How We Work
The Grind Foundation Trust is run by members who join voluntarily and contribute funds to the trust. The members elect Trustees as office bearers of The Grind Foundation Trust who hold office for 3 years. The trustees are elected at the AGM. As office bearers of The Grind Foundation Trust, trustees are mandated by a collective of men and women whose aspiration is to contribute in the building and developing of fellow South Africans so that future and current South Africans can fully benefit from what this country has got to offer.
Whoever wishes to join the Grind Foundation is free to do so. To become a member, please complete the joining form.
Our headquarters are in Johannesburg, and all organisation meetings and events take place at venues communicated to the members.
